Introduction

This guide is a level-by-level guide of the most efficient layouts that you should use to level as quickly as possible (aside from leveling up your dishes).

The layouts depicted below are aimed towards people who are interested in power leveling (legitimately) by reducing waiter walking distance and maximising efficiency.

Layouts
  • Period: Layout should be used during this level(s)
  • Minimum space: Size of restaurant required
  • APS: Average number of plates sold per minute
  • Pop(ularity) Cap: Popularity reached at its peak
APS calculation is conducted twice for the layout and average is taken.
No extreme deviation has occurred so far.
Employee motivation is kept above 80% at all times.
May be understated because my computer lags
Quote:

Period: LV 2
Minimum space: 7 x 6
APS: -
Pop cap: 27.8
Comments: You might have difficulty getting the waiter in, scroll down to "Tips and Tricks" for waiter position solution
Quote:

Period: LV 3 ~ LV 4
Minimum space: 8 x 7
APS: 6.67
Pop cap: 26.5
Comments: Having more tables allows you to serve more! Although your pop suffers...
Quote:

Period: LV 5
Minimum space: 7 x 7
APS: -
Pop cap: 36.2
Comments: Transition layout to the next one since your restaurant is still too small.
Quote:

Period: LV 6 ~ LV 7
Minimum space: 9 x 8
APS: 9.07
Pop cap: 39.2
Comments: Try putting waiting chairs AROUND the layout like hbfs in post #38.

Quote:
*NOT RECOMMENDED*

Period: LV 8 ~ LV 10
Minimum space: 9 x 8
APS: 9.27
Pop cap: 37.0
Comments: Controversial layout that peaks at 37 pop (may differ); you can stick to previous layout with two waiters inside. 4:1 not recommended!
Quote:

Period: LV 8 ~ LV 10
Minimum space: 9 x 8
APS: 9.67
Pop cap: 36.0
Comments: Another layout where pop suffers but you end up selling more. Again, 4:1 not recommended!
Quote:
*HIGHLY RECOMMENDED*

Period: LV 11 ~ LV 13
Minimum space: 10 x 9
APS: 12.1
Pop cap: 50.0
Comments: Arguably the most efficient 4:2 layout. If all goes well, this is your first 50.0 Popularity layout! Congratulations!

Tips and Tricks
  • Don't waste valuable ingredient slots by learning many dishes. Stick to the one dish for each category that you think is tasty! (mango pudding yum! )

  • Keep your employees happiness over 80% to make them work fast and earn more money.

  • Personally, for earlier levels (i.e. LV14 to LV19) maze is not needed to attain popularity of 50. Sometimes its even inefficient because your customers walk too slow. (assuming employees are happy!)

  • Don't hoard your cash, it's bad for the economy; spending gains GP!

... and if you haven't already realised by now.

Fail-Proof Way to Correct Waiter Position

For all you people who don't read all the way down my original guide:
  1. Assign chefs and waiters
  2. Click "Redecorate" Mode
  3. Click on stoves following order below (examples for 4:2 and 6:2 layouts)
(by "click" it means to point your cursor at the stove, depress the left mouse button and release)

6. Conclusion

The layouts present in this guide should help you through with your power levelling as fast as possible.

No matter what other guides say about mazes, cleaners, distance from doors etc., your own dish level should be your priority, followed by an efficient layout. All questions left unanswered will be replied promptly (relatively) by me. Thank you fellow RC-peeps for your support thus far.

Ive tried that 4 cook - 2 waiter layout before, but I can't get my waiters to appear in the right spots. Is there a way to make sure they're in the middle?

This looks great. My problem is: How do you get the waiters to stand in the middle of the square? This is for the 4 cooks and 2 waiters setup.

There are basically 3 ways:

1) Swap stoves repeatedly and hope you get it
2) Assign 4 cooks and then 2 waiters, interchange waiter and cooks repeatedly and hope you get it
3) Read http://forum.playfish.com/showthread.php?t=585963 and hope you get it

I just found another solution. Assign every employee as a waiter until you have two in the correct spots. You then leave those two in place, and reassign the remaining people as cooks.
