Friend locked? - Playfish

I have a level 12 friend which has a lock over their picture.
I can add them to my party, but I cannot change their weapons because of the lock on their pic.
How can I get rid of the lock?

Is your friend captured by robots?

If the friend is captured it shouldn't be possible to add him to the team right?
