Default Pet Society FAQs

1. How do I earn coins?

There are several ways to earn coins in Pet Society, these include:
  • Visiting friends and doing an activity (once per friend per day)
  • Racing and betting at the Stadium
  • Bumping (running through) trees in the village
  • Playing Ball, Frisbee or Jump Rope with your pet
  • Cleaning your pet and your friends’ pets when dirty with flies
  • Growing trees (fruit), flowers and vegetables in your garden and selling them once picked
  • Cooking food, and selling it once collected
  • Levelling up, doing tasks (Green Book) and earning trophies
  • Feeding your friends’ pets when hungry

2. How many coins should I get from visiting my friends?

You should receive:
50 coins each for the first 50 friends you visit each day
25 coins each for the next 25 friends you visit each day
15 coins each for any additional friends you visit each day

Additional visits to the same friend within the same day pay no coins.

If you are not receiving the coins as above, I suggest refreshing Pet Society.

Check out question 12 to see how you can add Pet Society friends to a limited profile!

3. How do I make my pet poo?

Your pet needs to be left with low hygiene (the blue bar - I've heard below 50%).
Keep your pet happy and healthy. This means the green and red bars should be kept as full as possible (I’ve heard over 50%).

So basically no soap, but plenty of food and fun stuff!

Then eventually your pet will poo.

You may be able to make your pet poo quicker if you click on it (as clicking on your pet can make it change actions), but don’t click on it if it looks like it’s about to poo, as you may make it stop!

Important note: Your pet will not make regular poo if you already have 3 regular poos in your house and/or chest, so if you want your pet to keep pooing, make sure you don’t reach this maximum (you can always give them to a friend as a gift, or to look after for you, or sell them to the shop).

Important note 2: If you click a poo (standard, golden or rainbow), it will disappear and award you a coin. If you wish to move your pet’s poo to keep it, you must open your chest first to click and drag it to the desired location, as if you select it without your chest open, it will disappear and give you the coin as described.

4. How do I make a golden or rainbow poo?

It’s just luck! Really! So as long as you have your pet pooing (see the above question), if you are lucky enough, one day it might poo gold or rainbow! Rainbow poo is the most rare!

Important note: Your pet will stop making poos of any kind if there are already 3 regular poos in your home and/or chest.

Important note 2: You are only able to have 3 golden poos and 1 rainbow poo. So if you already have 3 golden poos in your possession your pet will not be able to poo gold, and if you already have 1 rainbow poo in your possession your pet will not be able to poo rainbow!

5. How do I put a picture in my avatar or signature and how do I post a picture in thread?

Please see this thread for signatures and avatars: http://forum.playfish.com/showthread.php?t=8540

Screenshot instructions are included in: http://forum.playfish.com/showthread.php?t=8540

For adding a picture in thread, take a screenshot as descibed in the above thread. Upload it to an external website such as www.photobucket.com or www.tinypic.com

Take the code from there that has the [img] tags and paste that in your thread.

Or if you just have the image link, the tags are (remove the stars):
[*img]http://addressofimage.jpg[/*img]

The address between the [img] tags must end in the filetype (i.e. '.gif', '.jpg' or '.png').

6. I’ve lost my soap, where can I buy more?

You can't buy soap, but you should always have one bar, it's given to you when you join and upgrades occasionally as you advance through the levels.

To find your soap simply open your chest, you should see a grayed out icon of your soap, drag this icon into the room (as if your soap was there), and it will appear!

7. I just got my silver trophy, but my bronze one disappeared, what happened?

You can only have one trophy for any particular achievement at anyone time. So when you receive a silver trophy in something, instead of giving you a new trophy, it just upgrades your old one!

8. I’m having issues loading Pet Society, what should I do?

Make sure you have the latest version of flash installed. You can check what version you currently have here: http://playerversion.com . And can download the latest version from the Adobe website: http://www.adobe.com .

Clear your cache! Facebook has instructions for this here! And restart your computer!

Check that Java is enabled on your browser, for instructions on how to enable Java, check out this site: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/enable_browser.xml

Try loading using a different browser, or even a different computer!

Check this thread: http://forum.playfish.com/showthread.php?t=935544 for more things to try!

Sometimes people have this issue when they have a lot of friend’s on their list, you can try removing some (particularly relevant if you have over 150 friends).

Check out: http://www.playfish.com/support/

Use the Support Link if all else fails!

9. I see things in people’s homes (rugs, toys, etc) but I can’t find them in any shops, where do I find them?

These items may have previously been in the ‘This Week’s Special’ section of one of the stores, or been on ‘Clearance’ in the past, or they may be past or present Mysterious Items (only able to be found in Mystery Boxes)! If you are lucky, you might find them in a Mystery Box if they are currently available in boxes! Otherwise you can always head to the Trading Forum and try trading for them! But be very cautious when trading with other users, trades are at your own risk and in the case of a dispute, Playfish will be unable to assist!

10. Where can I see all the items available?

*Answer removed*

You can view recent items (since March, 2009) on the Pet Society Blog: http://blog.petsociety.com

11. Everyone is talking about MBs, jukes, lips, 999, 4999 items, etc. what are they?

For an extensive list of forum abbreviations, check this thread: http://forum.playfish.com/showthread.php?t=1928357

RMB = Red Mystery Box = 50 coins from the mystery store
BMB = Blue Mystery Box = 200 coins from the mystery store
GMB = Golden Mystery Box = 500 coins from the mystery store

RMBs are known to give items worth up to 200 coins shop value (re-sale value of up to 66 coins).
BMBs are known to give items up to 1000 coins shop value (re-sale of up to 333 coins).
GMBs are known to give items up to 3000 coins shop value (re-sale of up to 999 coins).

Jukes/Jukeboxes are Jukeboxes which used to sell for 20,000 coins in the Luxury store (they have now been removed from the store) and re-sell to the store for 6,666 coins. They look like:

Lips are Luscious Lips Loungers which used to sell for 20,000 coins in the Luxury store (they have now been removed from the store) and re-sell to the store for 6,666 coins. They look like:

999 items are any items that resell for 999 coins. These items are either available in stores for (past or present) 3000 coins, or are some of the mysterious items (past or present) that have this 999 coins re-sale value. A list including most of the current 999 items may be found here: http://forum.playfish.com/showthread.php?t=1940748

4999 items are items that resell to the store for 4999 coins. This specifically includes the Princess Bed and the Red Bubble Chair. Both of these items are available in the Luxury Store for 15000 coins each.

For a list of other frequently used abbreviations, check out this thread: http://forum.playfish.com/showthread.php?t=1928357

12. Can I gift / trade with people who aren’t my friends and how do I add people to a limited profile??

To gift in Pet Society, you need to first be friends with that person on your social network.

For Facebook: If you like you can add them using Facebook’s limited profile feature (which you will need to set up first by using the ‘Make a New List’ feature here: http://www.facebook.com/friends/?ref=tn ).

For a detailed description of how to add people to a limited profile (for Facebook) check out this very informative thread: http://forum.playfish.com/showthread.php?t=1154906

Default Pet Society FAQs

13. I want to trade, I know I have to be careful, but what should I look out for?

Check out this thread: http://forum.playfish.com/showthread.php?t=181501

And also consider checking the scammers list: http://forum.playfish.com/showthread.php?t=1521089

14. Any ideas on how to improve my racing?

Check out these tips: http://ministryofgame.blogspot.com/2...race-tips.html

15. What are the requirements and upgrades available at each level?

Since the list is long, I’ve given this question its own posts in the fourth (Facebook) and sixth (Myspace) posts of this thread! So scroll down or click:
Facebook: http://forum.playfish.com/showthread...8#post20136828
MySpace and Bebo:
http://forum.playfish.com/showthread...post1000999737

16. How many friends can I have in Pet Society, and why can’t I see all my friends?

The game allows for an unlimited number of friends. However, on your map, only 100 friends will appear, if you have more to visit, you can still visit them all using the friends ranking scroll bar!

Just be aware, that having a lot of friends can cause loading issues, so if you have trouble loading the game, you may wish to consider removing some friends (if you’ve added some specifically for this game).

If, for example, your social network says you have 36 friends playing, but in the game you only see 31, it is most likely that those additional five people added the application but did not complete the pet creation process, they need to completely create their pet before you can see them in-game.

Also, sometimes when you get new friends the server can take up to 24 hours to recognise this, so be patient!

17. What health do the various foods give?

This is not an extensive list, but shows some of what I’ve fed Sirius as an indication. It also may vary slightly from pet to pet.

Apple 15%
Grapes 27%
Onion 15%
Bread 30%
Mashed Potato 40%
Cranberry Sauce 45%
Meatball 45%
Salami 40%
Pandoro 21%
Candy Cane 15%
Mince Pie 15%
Pineapple 50%
Rice Pudding 15%
Strawberry Milk 75%
Steak 60%
Chocolate Donut 89%
Pink Donut 89%
Bone 99%
Orange Juice 80%
Chocolate Milk 80%
Melon 79%
Pineapple 50%
Chocolate Heart 99%
Orange Juice 79%
Watermelon 20%
Pear 15%
Lemon 15%
Corn 15%
Banana 25%
Leek 15%
Carrot 21%

18. How do I add my social network profile link under my forum name?

For Facebook:

Go here: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home Then select ‘Profile’. Copy the address that appears in the address bar, it should be something like:
Code:
http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=********&ref=profile
(where the *****’s are your Facebook ID).

Then go here: http://forum.playfish.com/profile.php?do=editprofile

Scroll until you see: “Facebook Profile Page”. Paste your Facebook Profie link there.

Select ‘Save Changes’ at the bottom of the page.

For MySpace:

Copy your MySpace profile link. Go here: http://forum.playfish.com/profile.php?do=editprofile

Scroll until you see: “MySpace Profile Page”. Paste your MySpace Profie link there.

Select ‘Save Changes’ at the bottom of the page.

19. I accidentally hit the report button while visiting a friend, and I didn’t mean too, what will happen?

You cannot actually report abuse accidentally. When you click the button a new window opens with a form to fill out and report the abuse. Until you've filled out the form and submitted it, nothing is reported.

Some pop-up blockers may block the form though, or it may have opened behind your current window which is why you may not have noticed it!

The report abuse form looks like:

20. How do I trade?

Please see this post: http://forum.playfish.com/showpost.p...46&postcount=6

21. Why didn’t my paw points / coins / items save?

If you simply close the game sometimes the current state of the game is not saved when you exit.

Therefore we advise to always use the 'Save and Quit' button to exit the game!

If, for whatever reason, you do not wish to use the ‘Save and Quit’ button, we would advise before closing the game to:
1. Leave the pet in the house for 1 minute
2. Visit a friend and do an action (hug, kiss...)
3. Wait for 1 minute
4. Go back to house
5. Wait for 1 minute
To hopefully ensure the game saves properly!

22. I think I have found a cheater, how do I know if they are cheating and what should I do?

To report a someone you suspect of cheating, e-mail all details to cheaters@playfish.com. Ensure you include the user's social network and their social network ID number.

And check out this thread, it has all the information you should need: http://forum.playfish.com/showthread.php?t=19683

23. What is the difference between ‘One Week Only’ and ‘Just Arrived!’?

One Week Only (formerly This Week’s Special and This Week Only) - Items that will be in store for the current week, and will disappear from stores at midnight GMT the following Monday. These items may be available again at some point in the future.

Just Arrived! (formerly New This Week) - New items introduced to the shop which will generally remain in stores indefinitely. In the case of ‘New This Week’ seasonal items they will remain in store until the end of the associated ‘season’ (these items may be available again at some point in the future).

24. What are all the forum user titles I can obtain?

The forum user titles are based on your number of posts (excluding those in the Contests & Games sub-forum) and are as follows:

Newbie = 0-19
Larva = 20-49
Plankton = 50-99
Fish Egg = 100-149
New Little Fish = 150-399
Little Fish = 400-499
Clown Fish = 500-699
Angel Fish = 700-899
Star Fish = 900-1499
Adventure Fish = 1500-1999
Captain Fish = 2000-2599
Legendary Fish = 2600-2999
Magic Fish = 3000-3999
Ultimate Playfish Fan = 4000+

25. How do I get on the 'Safe Traders List'? (Facebook)

For the forum safe traders list, all the requirements are listed in the first post of: http://forum.playfish.com/showthread.php?t=91351

So make sure you qualify for the list and then fill out the relevant forms and post them in the relevant thread (same link as above).

26. How do I view how many times I, or another person, has posted in a particular thread?

View the thread from the forum it's in, where you see the list of thread names, total posts and total views. Click on the number of total posts which corresponds to the thread you are interested in, this will give you a breakdown of posts per user.

27. I tried to sign up to the forum, but lost / never received my activation e-mail, how do I arrange for another one?

You can request a new forum activation e-mail here: http://forum.playfish.com/register.php?a=ver

You need to click the link in: "If you have lost your activation code or you have forgotten your username, click here to have the codes emailed to you again."

Or, you can just go here: http://forum.playfish.com/register.php?do=requestemail

28. How does recycling work?

By recycling your items you can earn exclusive Eco Rewards for you and your pet.

To recycle an item, drag the item from your chest or closet to the Recycler (which is located under the cash register)! Each item you recycle has a certain number of points associated with recycling it. Once you build up 10,000, 20,000 or 30,000 Recycle Points you can cash them out for an Eco Prize.

The various Eco Prizes have differing Eco Rewards in them (and can be opened like a mystery box), what you find in your Eco Prize is determined by chance.

Default Pet Society FAQs

29. What is Playfish Cash and the Cash Shop? (Facebook)

Playfish Cash is a currency which is available for purchase via the ATM machine located in the Cash Shop. This currency allows you to purchase the special items in the Cash Shop which cannot be bought with standard coins. You cannot find or earn Playfish Cash during normal play like you can with standard coins.

The Cash Shop is where you can buy exclusive items for your pet using Playfish Cash. Some of the items have special effects (all special effect items state their effect in the dialogue box prior to purchase), some of these effects can assist you in your normal playing of the game, for example, effects include: increasing your chance of finding coins in trees, making your pet run faster around town, and making races in the Stadium easier.

Please note that Cash Shop items cannot be gifted after purchase, if you would like to buy a Cash Shop gift for a friend you need to do it at the point of purchase by using the ‘Buy as Gift’ button (not the Green Tick).

30. How does the Garden work? (Facebook)

Everyone starts off with a Front Garden, and at level 10 your Back Garden is awarded!

Each garden has 9 places to plant something, and you have 3 choices of things to plant in each, you can plant a flower, a vegetable or a tree. You buy seeds from the Garden Centre!

Here’s a few details!

Flowers take 24 hours to grow, once grown you can pull then out to use as a decoration somewhere else (the Garden Centre also sells vases to put them in), or you can just leave it growing as a decoration in your garden!

Here is an example of a flower growing:
-->

Vegetables grown over time, the longer you leave them, the bigger they grow, but also the higher the chance of your vegetable being rotten when pulled. You cannot tell if a vegetable is rotten until you pull it out from the ground. The can grow larger for 9 days total, once it has been 9 days, they will not grow anymore. While in the ground, they only show a general size category (small, medium or lager), it is only once pulled out of the ground that the actual size is known.

Here some examples of vegetable sizes:
--> -->

Here is an example of what you will see if you pull up a rotten vegetable:

The sizes of vegetables you could get are:
Tiny
Very Small
Small
Below Average
Average
Above Average
Large
Very Large
Gigantic

Trees take three days to grow, and each day after there is a chance of a ‘fruit’ growing. Your pet can eat the fruit from trees! If you do not pick the fruit, a tree can hold up to three pieces of fruit, once a tree has three pieces of fruit, there will be no chance of it growing anymore until you pick some of the fruit.

Here is an example of a tree with a couple of pieces of fruit:

If you remove a tree it disappears, it will not go back to your chest, so you cannot move trees, and only remove one when you are sure you no longer want it!

31. How do you take a photo? (Facebook)

To take a photo, first simply select the camera icon.

You can then choose what kind of photo you wish to take from the options available. From your pet’s home, you can take a photo of the room, or a close up of your pet in its surroundings, or a portrait of your pet (the background is removed); from anywhere else (including a friend’s home) you can take a picture of the scene, a close up, or again a portrait shot!

If you would like to type a caption, type it in the space provided, then simply select the green tick to publish your photo!

The photo is designed to be saved in an album labelled “Pet Society” in your Facebook photos, so you will need to give the application permission to upload photos! (Facebook should prompt you to do this the first time you try and take a photo, so just follow the prompts!)

Please note: The camera feature is not available when playing Pet Society through Facebook Connect, only when playing through Facebook normally.

32. How do you fish? (Facebook)

First leave your house, walk slightly down and to the right and you will see the fish pond, simply click it to enter. You automatically begin with a twig rod, this cannot be sold, gifted or recycled so you will always have a rod! The food you currently have in your inventory will be shown, click the food you wish to use as bait (if you do not currently have any food, head to the Food Store to buy some for bait).

Once your rod is baited, simply click your pet to cast. When you receive a bite (you will be able to tell from your pets face changing with the surprise and a couple of splashes near the end of your line), click and hold on your pet to start reeling in.

If the fish struggles (which is shown by splashing at the end of your line), let go until it is calm again so that you don’t break your line! Once the fish has stopped struggling, click and hold to being reeling in once again. Continue doing this until the line is reeled in!

One last thing you need to know about fishing is that Aquariums, to put your best catches in, are now available to purchase in the Garden Store!

33. What do the question marks and other icons on some items in the Chest and Wardrobe mean?
The current chest icons are a question mark, golden dot, and timer, as shown:

The question mark indicates that the item is a mysterious item, which means it is or was only ever available in Mystery Boxes, and could not be purchased directly from one of the Pet Society stores.

The golden dot indicates that the item is a Playfish Cash item. Such items were originally purchased using Playfish Cash which is available to purchase from the ATM in the Cash Shop. These items cannot be gifted after purchase.

The timer indicates that the item is a magical food which is perishable. These magical foods only last for a certain period of time (which is stated at the point of purchase), and the timer on the item gives an indication of how much time left until it disappears. When you eat the magical food it will cause a special effect, this effect is only temporary, and generally only lasts a few days (the time it lasts is stated in the purchase window). When you eat the food, the effect will be revealed, and a new indicator of the time remaining for the effect will show below your pet’s hygiene bar.

Default Pet Society FAQs

34. How do stickers work? (Facebook)

How do I send stickers?

Select the sticker icon that you see next to the camera icon!

Select the purple sticker pack bookmark. (Or the gold sticker pack icon on the left page of the opening page of your album.)

Select the friend(s) you would like to send a Sticker Pack to.

Select "Send Pet Society gift request".

Select "Send".

How do I accept stickers friends have sent?

Go to your Facebook requests page: http://www.facebook.com/reqs.php

Select to "Accept Gift" where you see a friend has sent you a sticker.

You are then taken to a holding screen which shows whether the sticker you just tried to accept was successful or not. From this screen you can select to "Accept more stickers" (green button) which you should use if you have more requests waiting that you would like to accept now, or you can select "Play Pet Society!" (pink button) which you should select if you have no more sticker requests that you want to accept currently!

Once you have selected "Play Pet Society!" Pet Society will load. Your pet can then open the sticker pack on the ground, like any other gift. You will be shown the stickers inside and who they are from. Close that window by selecting the green tick.

To place your stickers in your album, select the sticker button (next to the camera icon).

You can then drag and drop your newly collected stickers into your album. (You find the stickers not current in your album below your album).

How many stickers can I send to friends a day?

This is variable, and is a limit set by Facebook. Currently it appears to be around 30.

The limit will vary dependent on how many accepts / ignores various applications receive with their requests. Which basically means, if the vast majority of people accept the requests, it should increase, however if the vast majority of people decline the requests, it will decrease. (I don't know the exact numbers, as that is a Facebook policy, nothing to do with Playfish, I'm just using majority as a general term.)

What time of day does the daily limit reset?

The daily reset for sending stickers is based on Facebook's midnight!

Facebook runs on USA Pacific Time. Which you can see the current time in here: http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/tim.../pacific-time/

Pacific Time is currently GMT -7, which means sticker sending limits will reset at 7 am GMT each day!

Can I choose which stickers to send friends?

No sorry, it's all random!

The trophy (for example) states "Complete 5 sticker collections in bronze" what exactly does this mean?

A collection is a full double page of stickers. So each full double page will count as one collection towards a trophy.

Here are some clarifications on what each trophy definition means:

Sticky fingers
Complete 5 sticker collections of at least bronze level stickers (i.e. can be any combination of gold, silver and/or bronze)

You stuck it out
Complete 5 sticker collections of at least silver level stickers (i.e. can be any combination of gold and/or silver)

Midas touch
Complete 5 sticker collections of gold level stickers (i.e. must all be gold)

So you are able to have some silver and gold stickers in your collections (as well as bronze) to complete the bronze trophy! And you are able to have some gold stickers in your collections (as well as silver) to complete the silver trophy!

If you are still confused, check these posts:
http://forum.playfish.com/showthread...#post994105790
http://forum.playfish.com/showthread...#post994105004
http://forum.playfish.com/showthread...#post994141494

If I replace a silver sticker in my album with a gold sticker, what happens to the original silver sticker?

The silver sticker remains 'underneath' the gold sticker, so you will not receive it back.

Similarly, if you have a bronze sticker in your album, and you place a silver or gold sticker overtop, the bronze sticker will remain 'underneath' you will not receive it back.

Once I've placed a sticker in my album, can I remove it?

No sorry you cannot remove any stickers you have placed in your album!

There are 5 collections currently, is this it?

No, there will be more collections to come in the future!

I have received some duplicate stickers, or lower levels of stickers I already have higher levels of, what can I do with them?

If you end up with duplicate stickers that you don’t want or need, just use the Sticker Recycler! All you have to do is drag unwanted stickers to the recycle icon at the bottom left when your sticker album is open. Once you’ve built up enough Sticker Points you can redeem them for a Bronze, Silver or Gold Sticker Pack. These sticker packs will have random stickers inside but they’ll be of the level indicated on the pack, i.e. gold sticker packs will only contain gold stickers!

You can also just keep them in your general un-used sticker section for now if you'd prefer.

I've recycled lots of stickers and can redeem a sticker pack, can I gift this?

Sticker packs earned through recycling can be gifted to a friend like a normal gift!

Can I view my friends' sticker collections?

Yes! You can check out your friends’ collections when you visit them; their sticker icon is located above their pet’s health, happiness and hygiene bars.

What does the yellow star in the top right hand corner of some stickers in my inventory mean?

The yellow stars in the top right corner are the stickers you have just received/accepted, so it's easier for you to spot them amongst those that you've had for awhile!

35. Who is Hideeni, and why is he here? (Facebook)

Hideeni is someone you may run into anywhere why playing, in your house, in a friend’s house, in a store, or even somewhere on the village map.

He changes his outfit regularly, but looks something like:

Hideeni allows you to share a gift with your friends by posting on your Facebook wall. When you find him and click on him, he will offer you the opportunity to share the gift with your friends, to do this select “Share”.

A Facebook dialogue will then appear, which you will need to select to “Publish” to put it on your Facebook wall. Your friends who see it on your Facebook wall can select to “Claim your gift now” or similar to receive a gift in game. There may be a limit of the number of gifts per feed though, for example with the roses of February, 2010, only the first 5 friends to claim a particular feed receive the rose.

Important note: The gifts Hideeni brings when you find him are for your friends, not for yourself. If you want a Hideeni gift, you need one of your friend’s to post on their wall, and you to claim from your friend’s feed.

36. What is the Cooking feature? (Facebook)

Cooking is a feature to allow you to cook unique food, and use this to earn coins that was introduced in December, 2009.

Quote:
How does it work you ask? Well, you will be able to find your very own Cooking Stove in your chest! So drag that out into your room! You can click on either the Cooking icon (located next to your stickers icon), or on your Cooking Stove to read the instructions and get started! Basically though, you can cook food that is not available elsewhere. So buy some ingredients for a specific dish to cook (select the Cook button to start), and it will have a certain cooking time (which you can see before you buy it); and when it’s finished cooking collect it by clicking on your stove, or by using the Collect button in the Cooking book. You can choose to either sell your completed dish back to the store for profit, or give your pet a good feed!

Be careful though, if you leave your dish on the stove for too long, it will burn and be ruined (for most dishes you have the amount of cooking time again to collect), so be sure to come back to collect your dish once it’s finished cooking!

A few things you should be aware of: a) you can only cook one dish at a time, b) you will accumulate Cooking Points by successfully cooking dishes, these Cooking Points increase your Cooking Rank, and c) different dishes require different Cooking Ranks to learn, however everyone can start with Vegetable Soup, so sign on to Pet Society via Facebook now and give it a whirl!
From: http://blog.petsociety.com/2009/12/11/whats-cooking/

The cooking levels are as follows:

Default Pet Society FAQs

37. What are Petlings? (Facebook)

Petlings are a pet for your pet, which you can enjoy and look after. You can purchase your very own Petling from the Garden Store. There are currently four species to choose from, a cat, a dog, a tiger or a coyote, but more species may be added in the future! Cat and dog Petlings are given random features and colour upon their first feeding. You can change the colour of any Petling using a Coloured Petling Biscuit in the Garden Store.

They will bounce around your room, and are just a bit of fun!

Here are a few things you need to know about Petlings!
  • You will need to name your Petling, so start thinking of the perfect name! You will not be able to change this name at a later time, so choose carefully.
  • Plus, all pets require care, so each day your Petling will ask for a food that it wants, feed it that food to keep it happy.
  • Your Petling infant takes 4 feedings (one per day) to grow into a fully grown Petling, and you can only have one Petling growing at any one time; once your Petling is fully grown, you can purchase and grow another if you like.
  • Ensure you feed your Petling when it asks for food, if you don’t feed a Petling for 3 days it will get very sad and run away. It will start asking for food 24 hours after its last feeding.
  • Your Petling will only grow / be happy if you feed it the specific food it is asking for. It will eat other foods if you give them to it, but it will still be hungry. To feed your Petling, ensure you “drop” the food on top of it, instead of placing it on the floor next to it.
  • If your Petling/s run away, you be able to find it/them by either posting a feed to your Facebook wall, and having a friend help your find it/them, or by paying some coins to retrieve your Petling/s.
  • Currently you can only own up to 10 Petlings at any one time.
  • You can buy Petling beds from the Garden and Furniture Stores, your Petling will like to sleep on the bed. But only one Petling can sleep per bed at a time. More accessories may be added in the future.

38. What are Collaborative Items and Limited Items? (Facebook)

Collaborative Items are items which you can only get with the help of your friends. Each day you can select one collaborative item (using the Hammer icon on the left of screen or by selecting the items where they appear in store) and post to your Facebook wall to ask your friends to help you obtain it, after a certain number of friends have helped, you will receive your item. All of your friends are awarded some coins for helping out. If you wish, you can also choose to purchase collaborative items using Playfish Cash.

Limited Items are special items in that only a certain number of these are released, plus you are only able to purchase a maximum of one per day. They are limited by their number so once all available have been sold, no more will be released, so if you see one you think you’d like, buy it while you can!

39. What is the Meerkat in the Garden? (Facebook)

Quote:
What is the Meerkat?
The Meerkat is a nine-day service which will collect all of your fruits and vegetables when they reach Gigantic size and put them in your chest. This way you can make sure your vegetables do not rot, and your fruits grow efficiently (e.g. no wasted time). Remember that it takes up to nine days for a vegetable to grow to Gigantic size, so plan ahead when you hire the Meerkat!

How can I hire a Meerkat?
In the Garden, click on the Meerkat icon on the left side of your screen. The poster in the Garden Shop is for display only. You can only have one Meerkat active at a time.

Is the Meerkat giftable?
No, the Meerkat will work only for you.

Will he work only in one of the gardens, or all including my secret garden?
He will work in all of your gardens, no matter which one you hire him from initially. This includes secret gardens.

Does the Meerkat pick flowers?
The Meerkat only picks fruits and vegetables, as these are items you can sell for a profit and earn money. Flowers will not rot, so there is no problem to just leave them growing for as long as you like.

What happens at the end of nine days?
The Meerkat will periodically tell you how many items he has harvested for you. At the end of your nine days, you can hire the Meerkat for another nine days. If you decide not to hire him again, he will leave your garden.

What does the number on the Meerkat icon mean?
The number counts down the remaining number of days in the Meerkat's shift. At the end of his shift, you can hire him for another nine days. If you decide not to hire him again, he will leave your garden.

My Meerkat isn't doing anything! Is something wrong?
The Meerkat will walk back and forth in your garden all day, and will harvest your items once every 24 hours for nine days. So even if you still see fruit and gigantic vegetables in your garden, don't worry, he will pick them!
40. What is the Treasure Hunt / Digging and how do I dig? (Facebook)

Quote:
What is Treasure Hunt?
Treasure Hunt is a feature that lets you dig for treasure. You can access it using the Treasure Hunt icon from your home, and then clicking on the Town Forest (or other location) from the world map.

What items can I find?
Items that you find in Treasure Hunt are not available anywhere else. You can find a number of different kinds of treasure. In the Town Forest, there are 10 cool treasures, plus the extremely rare Forest Aquarium. Can you find it? What about the special weekly themed item? Collect all seven pieces for the Dinosaur Skeleton, then display it proudly in your room.

What do the X and ? mean?
X means there is no treasure in that space. ? means there may be a treasure in that space.

What is the Weekly item?
The Weekly item is similar to a 'This Week's Special' item - it is only available to be found in the map for one week. Once you've found it, it's yours to keep!

Can treasures be gifted?
Yes, you can send treasures to a friend, just like normal items

How much are treasures worth?
The value of each treasure in the Town Forest ranges from 50 coins up to 3,500 for the Forest Aquarium.

How do I get free shovels?
Initially you get up to five free shovels to use that day. If you don't use them, you lose them! Of course any shovels that you have bought are yours to use any day you like.

Why don't I see where I dug before?
Whenever you leave the Town Forest, the map will reset. You of course keep whatever treasures you found, but will have to start digging again in a different part of the forest.

Will there be more treasures and map sites?
You bet!
More will be added in time! If there’s a question you think should be on here, please post!

Default Pet Society FAQs

Some additional FAQs specific to MySpace users!

Why am I seeing some items labeled ‘new’ in stores when they are seemingly from past weeks?

To assist with the continuing development of Pet Society, the MySpace version of the game will be revisiting some past weeks’ releases temporarily! You can read more about this here: http://blog.petsociety.com/2009/05/15/myspace-rewind/

What is the ‘Free Coins’ feature on the right hand side?

This is a feature that rewards you for sending coins to some friends. When you select to send coins to a friend, they receive a bag of 50 coins, and your pet will receive a bag of 50 coins. You are only able to send coins to friends who do not currently have the application, so if you want them to receive the coins, you can try inviting them to the application once you have sent the coins. They will not get an automatic invite just from you sending the coins, you need to select ‘Invite’ after sending the coins to ensure they receive an invite! (If you do not wish to send an invite at the time you send the coins, you can instead select ‘Skip’.)

Also, you can only send coins to friends every so often (we do not want to spam people), so if a friend does not have the application and you send them coins one day, you will not be able to send that same friend coins again for a specified time period. However, at some point they will re-appear on your list if they have not added the application, so you could try sending coins and inviting them again if you wish. And there is a limit to how many times you can send coins to friends each day (again, we do not wish to spam), the current limit is 8 friends per GMT day.

If you have no friends showing to send coins to it means all of your friends either already have the application installed or have had you send them coins recently!

MySpace levels and upgrades available may be found in the following post!
